Couples & Marriage Counselling
Your Relationship Matters.
Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but they can also be challenging.
Sometimes couples find themselves caught in the same arguments, struggling to communicate, feeling disconnected, or unsure how to move forward after being hurt. Other times, there may not be a major crisis—you simply want to feel closer and strengthen your relationship.
Couples counselling provides a safe and supportive space to slow things down, understand one another more deeply, and work toward a healthier, more connected relationship.
When You Feel Stuck
Every couple goes through difficult seasons.
You may be experiencing:
Frequent arguments or unresolved conflict
Difficulty communicating or feeling heard
Emotional distance or disconnection
Loss of trust or hurt within the relationship
Difficulty navigating differences
Struggles with boundaries or extended family
Feeling like you're growing apart
Repeated patterns that you can't seem to break
Difficulty reconnecting after conflict
Major life transitions or stressful seasons
Uncertainty about the future of your relationship
You don't have to wait until your relationship is in crisis before reaching out for support.
Understanding Your Relationship Patterns
Often, couples aren't really fighting about the thing they're fighting about.
Beneath repeated arguments can be hurt, fear, unmet needs, disappointment, or a longing to feel loved and understood.
In counselling, we can slow down these patterns and begin to understand what is happening beneath the surface.
Rather than focusing on who is right or who is wrong, our work can help you understand one another, communicate more effectively, and create new ways of responding to each other.
Building a Healthier Connection
A healthy relationship isn't one where you never disagree.
It's a relationship where both people can feel heard, valued, respected, and emotionally safe—and where there is a willingness to repair when things go wrong.
Depending on your needs, couples counselling may focus on:
Communication
Learning to express your thoughts, feelings, and needs in ways that encourage understanding rather than defensiveness.
Conflict
Understanding the patterns that keep you stuck and developing healthier ways to navigate disagreements.
Connection
Rebuilding emotional closeness and finding your way back to one another.
Trust & Repair
Working through hurt and learning how to rebuild trust and connection.
Boundaries
Creating healthy boundaries within your relationship and with family and others.
Understanding Each Other
Exploring attachment, needs, experiences, and the patterns each person brings into the relationship.
Counselling for Marriage and Long-Term Relationships
Whether you've been together for a few years or many decades, it is never too late to invest in your relationship.
Sometimes couples come to counselling because they are struggling. Other couples come because they want to be proactive and continue strengthening an already healthy relationship.
Wherever you are in your relationship, counselling can provide a space to pause, reflect, and intentionally work toward the kind of relationship you want to have.
A Collaborative Approach
I believe couples counselling should provide a space where both people feel heard and respected.
My approach draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, attachment-based therapy, family systems, and other therapeutic approaches.
Together, we will explore the patterns within your relationship and work toward greater understanding, healthier communication, and a stronger connection.
The goal isn't to determine who is to blame. It's to help you understand what is happening between you and discover healthier ways of relating to one another.
When Faith Is Important
For Christian couples who would like to incorporate their faith into counselling, Christian couples and marriage counselling is also available.
As a Christian, I understand that faith can be an important part of how couples understand commitment, forgiveness, communication, conflict, and marriage.
If you desire, we can incorporate your Christian faith and biblical principles into our work together.
Faith-informed, not faith-imposed.
You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone
Every relationship has difficult seasons. Reaching out for counselling doesn't mean your relationship has failed. It can simply mean that you care enough about your relationship to seek support.
Whether you're trying to work through a difficult season, repair disconnection, or simply build an even stronger relationship, counselling can give you the space and support to do that together.
